Self Care…A Woman’s Oxymoron?
By
My dear friend in Argentina, Gayle, and I were discussing women and life balance. OK, so it was the middle of the night. I couldn’t sleep. Her emails offer powerful thinking question, gifts that always make me think of Christmas. Lucky me. I love our chats. She makes my dendrites stand at attention and salute her creativity.
We were talking about ourselves and our business ethics, working hard, the economy, and other professional/personal girl-talk. And that amorphous entity, time. Twenty-four hours everyday. But how often do we let it sit a spell with us?
She commented her Psychology of Women professor had made the statement, ”Jesus said to love others as ourselves, not instead of ourselves”
Now if that didn’t hit home! Guilty as charged. But I know I’m not the Lone Ranger.
- So how do you feel about your clock ticking?
- How are you doing with your time allocation?
- Do you take the time to be curious about your life?
- Could you be happier?
What would happen if you just stopped dead in your tracks, OK, a really alive and aware “dead”…And just breathed in, “Just” and exhaled…”This”? Just sucked up and savored your existence in all its glory. Lovingly listening to your world. Letting perceived demands roll off your psyche like Teflon.
You don’t need to DO anything. Just BE…Appreciating every morsel of humanity, knowing it is all there for YOU. Sheer joy for the sake of joy.
You are WORTH it.
You DESERVE it.
You are way more than ENOUGH.
